Field, Autumn


Here's the fourth panel of "Field Element". Sharp eyes will note that I have shown a square baler but round rather than square bales--let's just say this farmer had his barnyard reasons, as I had painterly ones, for including that red machinery.

Field, Autumn (in process)



The goal for my two weeks here at Studio Center is to paint the first stage of as many of the 40 panels in my "Elements of Place" project as possible--and with fourteen hour days, I'm almost half there! Here's the drawing and watercolor study for this painting.

Field, Autumn (first stage)


I'm beginning the Element paintings with a drawing on a toned panel--having to manage shapes, values and color at the same time would be too far a jump without a parachute.
