Hi Susan, Just stumbled upon your blog and realized the "Dream Tables" paintings I've been poring over in the Watercolor Artist magazine are yours! I love those---the detail is incredible.
I love the saturated autumn colors in this piece---I could look at it all day ; ).
If you would like to receive daily paintings please join my mailing list and sign up for "A Painter's Year Email Postings". You can also sign up there for workshop and show announcements.
My visual journal is inspired by what I see every day: the weather on my hill, what’s growing in my garden, a curio brought back from travels or an ordinary object from the kitchen shelf made special by careful looking. When I’m traveling, little studies are posted from Paris, Provence, Maine and anywhere else I’ll find myself this year. The "memory" paintings revisit favorite places in imagination.
The small paintings here in my visual journal are improvised daily entries, a chance to look again at familiar subjects and experiment with new approaches, to quickly record impressions and revisit favorite motifs.
My large studio compositions take time, planning, repeated refining of the original inspiration. I'll also be sharing that different kind of creative process with you here on "A Painter's Year".

Thank you. I can understand why you'd have a hard time connecting those detailed still life with this landscape!
