From the Dock, Portland, Maine

I went looking for something to paint on a very windy day in Portland, and walking to the end of a downtown dock found another of those plein air moments of magic in the ordinary: three storage tanks glowing between water and a sky so blue and shimmering, that for a few moments I thought I might be hallucinating.

I really enjoy all these Maine scenes--all familiar to me. Beautiful!

HI Susan - Two new friends just told me about your painting - Warren and Ross from Plainfield, Vermont who own the Comstock House. I am on Peaks Island, Maine - and I see that you were painting Portland two days ago! Your paintings are lovely. If you get to Peaks, please look me up. Nancy 3. This speaks to me with the simple flat shapes, direct paint application and strong simple composition. Love.
