Sunday Sketchbook: Provence
Every summer when I teach in Provence, we return to the same hill towns to paint. Once again I look through narrow walls to a deep valley and violet mountain, and try to get down on paper how the whole thing fits together--and what it feels like to be sitting on a stone step in cool shadow, looking out to sun and another distant hill town.

Your art is so beautiful! I am going to include this on a post on my blog, credited to you of course. If that isn't o.k. please let me know and I will remove it right away.
Warm Wishes,
Dana
Thanks, Dana, that's fine. What's your blog called?
what a beautiful watercolor. Makes me want to visit Provence!
You should, Carol. It's a beautiful place, and unlike any other.
I love the cool crisp colors they are so vibrant. Watercolor is my favorite medium. I too hope to travel one day and paint. Once all 4 kids take flight out of the nest. Stop by my blog sometime, I share my art, inspiration and scripture. Many Blessing Deborah
This is beautiful--love your color palette here. You've taken me vicariously to Provence here!
so very fresh, the colors sparkle.
Thanks, Deborah, Teresa, and "brush". Starting with a pen drawing, as I did in this painting, is a very different process for me than drawing with a brush. More relaxed, for one thing, starting with drawn lines. Lots of "blind contour" here, which is the best way I know to calm down.
