Here is the first of five new oils inspired by the Batey Libertad, the Haitian community in the Dominican Republic that I visited last November. These paintings, along with my son Colin's photographs, will be featured in an upcoming show at the University of Vermont to benefit the Batey--say tuned for more details!

very beautiful work
In spite of the obvious impoverished conditions the color add an inspiring element.

This painting is fantastic.
WOW - powerful painting. The messages that can be derived are multifold. The joy amongst the conditions, the person walking out, the child in the shadows...lots to ponder.
EXCELLENT painting...one of the most striking I've seen. I love the almost center path, too. It's a really interesting composition.
Beautiful. Happened upon it looking for Dominican art. Just got back from D.R and this captures a lot of the countries essence.
Thank you for these comments! The Batey is very poor, but I also found it full of life and color, and that's what I wanted to communicate in these paintings.
