On Upper Road

Looking out from the meadow of the Comstock House at a last burst of fall color on a chilly October afternoon.

Beautiful Susan! Love your temperature change. It is finally feeling like fall here in DC, although we don't have much color yet.

I like this very much. It is very rich. I love the felling and mood of it.

I like the repetition of soft curves on this piece. Very calming.

Thanks so much for commenting, everyone! I painted this on top of another plein air landscape, done at the same spot in the summer, that had some compositional problems. I liked using some aspects of the older painting in this new one--such as the cloud in the upper left. Most everything else was painted over, since I raised the horizon line about five inches up, and the color composition totally changed with the new season--but I liked the sense of richness of the color that came from this layering. Will try that again...
