Sunday Sketchbook: Barcelona and Paris

Back in Vermont again, looking back in my sketchbooks at great art and beautiful cities-- and looking forward to filling the blank paper, white canvases, and empty garden beds that are waiting here for me.

Hi Susan, I'm Cristina from Italy. I like very much your paintings, and your lively sketches too! I’m a beginner watercolorist, and I also love sketching during travels and into daily life. I searched your blog for some informations about the materials that you use for your sketches, but I didn’t find any. Could you be so kind please to tell me which paper and pens you prefer for sketching? Thank you very much! Ciao!

Hi, Tina. I use different types of sketchbooks--mostly Holbein multi-media, Canson, Cachet, and Handmade (that's a brand available here that makes small square books like the one shown above.) I use Faber-Castell Pitt pens in sanguine or black (mostly fine or medium nibs). If I add watercolor, I'll use mostly a limited selection of colors, usually a red, yellow and blue. Thanks for writing!

Thank you, Candy, it's good to be home again! The beautiful weather we're having right now has helped with the readjustment process.
