Maybe I'm craving some color outside, but while I'm here today painting my home state I've been thinking back to a trip to Rajasthan, and how exciting it was to be in a place that felt like a complete mystery.

Water, Spring (in progress)


I love water in any form, but brooks are my favorite--maybe because there were brooks (or "creeks" as we suburban kids called them) behind both of my childhood homes, and there isn't any happier combination than a kid, rocks, mud and moving water.

Notwithstanding the fresh snow yesterday, there's a fresh smell in the air, it's Town Meeting day, and we're right on the cusp of "mud season", that most messy, subtle, exhilarating time of the year.

Sunday Sketchbook: London

I visited my son Nate when he was living in London a few years back, and we went to a club to see Aphex Twin. Nate of course immediately disappeared into a dark crowd, and at 2:50 am I was still planted realtively happily with my sketchbook and a warm beer in a hot corner.
