Here's a valentine to my mom, who paid my way through five years of art school on her bookkeepers salary, and never once suggested I consider a more "practical" profession than being an artist.

I'm leaving on Saturday for a two week painting retreat at the wonderful Vermont Studio Center, where I'm hoping to make good progress on my "Elements of Place" series for the Art of Action, and also get back to work on the multi-panel painting "Entering" I began there last year.

Sunday Sketchbook: Vermont

Driving south out of two-lane Vermont for a visit to my son in expressway Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, where there is still a little farm land butting up against mall parking lots. (Yes, I've officially become a cudmugeon.)
