It's been a year of saying goodbyes in my family, to mothers, aunts, sons and fathers. When we're in the midst of such loss, there is no color, no taste or anticipation-only a faith that time will keep moving us forward, away from grief and into a new year.

muy bello, feliz año 2010
We have had a year like that in my family too. Thank you for your calm words of peace and strength and a chance to look at your beautiful painting. Happy New Year.
Beautful and splashy freshness.
This painting is very beautiful and full of hope.
I hate goodbyes...
I've enjoyed and been inspired by your paintings over the past year and don't think I ever told you so. Thank you for all you've shared. I love your work.
Wonderful work, one of the most beautiful still lifes I have seen. Sorry about your losses! I see a lot of colour and optimism here...all the best for 2010!
Happy New Year Susan.
I have found that only time takes away the sharpness of the pain of the losses that you talk about.
But what I want to comment on is joy. I want to thank you for your almost daily posts that come to my e-mail in-box. You can't imagine the joy that I feel when looking at your work .. Thank you.
Also, because of your blog postings I find that I have become more aware of Vermont and the richness it has to share, again, thank you.
Here's to a new decade and a new year. Cheers.
Yes, losses happen and sometimes it seems we won't get over it...but we do. And all we can do, on a daily basis, is celebrate and be grateful for the life we have been given right now, today, this minute. Your posts are a part of that celebration for me - the joy of seeing your work is a plus in a world full of minuses (at times). Wishing you a joyful and productive 2010.
Thanks so much, everyone, for your kind words. I'm very happy that my painting posts have brought you some joy, inspiration, or even a moment of pleasurable distraction. Painting is such a solitary activity, and artists rarely know how their work affects others--so thanks again for all of your much-appreciated comments.
