Forest, Autumn (in process)

I'm back to my Vermont "Elements of Place" series, coming down the home stretch in the next two weeks with my final images. Here a child's figure is camouflaged among the stream, trees and fallen leaves, one part in the whole pattern of the forest.

What a little surprise to find the child in this painting, Susan. I love the autumn and can see myself doing exactly as this boy is doing...just looking...

Even though I grew up in the suburbs of Washington, DC, I spent many happy hours when I was a child alone in the creeks and woods around my house. Today unfortunately for both the kids and ecology of suburbs, all of those streams are culverted.
