Study: Winter Road #3
Today the Vermont Arts Council and Orton Foundation announced the ten winners of their "Art of Action" competition, and I'm happy to say that I was on the list. This project will generously fund each artist's creation of a body of work exploring the theme of Vermont's future. During the next few months I'll post my progress as my watercolor landscape studies become the oil series "Elements of Place". Click here to learn more about the unique "Art of Action" project and read the artist's proposals.

I love this piece, especially the unwinding and winding of the roads- it all adds to the beauty of this piece!
congratulations your paintings are beautiful. I always enjoy looking at your work.
Congratulations! The colours in this are gorgeous! Lovely piece!
Thank you, all. I think I may end up using this composition as the winter panel in my "Road Element" oil.
Your artwork is absolutely gorgeous. I looked at your other site also. Vermont has so many beautiful places. We were in the Cabot area last October. I will check back to see more.
Congratulaions on your Art of Action grant, Susan. Your talent and hard work earned it.

Thank you, David. I'm enjoying your blog!
Beautiful work! I like your landscape studies very much. Congratulations also on your grant!
The colors and the lines;Gorgeous painting, Susan.
Congatulations! This painting almost gives me vertigo - the winding, unwinding of the road and the colors add an extra twist (no pun intended) to what could have been a standard painting of a road going through a landscape. I like this - it's a bit edgy and very interesting.
wow...I can see why you won that award. great work
Thank you, Shea, for all of your comments. i would like to paint a whole series on roads, many types in different weather, down the line.
