House by the Lake


I took a drive yesterday around Vermont's Champlain Islands, and being there reminded me of Maine--the light both sharp and diffused, and instead of blue mountains always in the background, a glimpse of water.

Sunday Sketchbook: Vermont



A few Augusts back we had a yard sale--even in a sketch this teapot, decanter and teddy bear hold vivid feelings for me from past times and places. But I've decided it's better to get rid of all the unused stuff that fills our basement and closets, even these totems for my memories. (But not my husband's worn-out backpack, I couldn't sell that.)
