Sunday Sketchbook: Memory


We're taking our son Colin to his first year at college tomorrow, and that got me looking though old sketchbooks, thinking about all the hours and days we've spent together and all I've learned, watching as he pursued his passions.

Plums and Geranium


I've been focussed on landscape for the last two weeks, so here's a summer still life, a print of a watercolor painted when the geraniums were in bloom on my front steps, and the black-eyed susans had taken over my door-yard garden, like now. (Click here to see all of my still life prints.)

Sunday Sketchbook: Maine


Last year at about this time I taught a workshop on Mt. Desert, and here's what I drew from a table at the ice cream stand on my way off the island--I remember thinking about how anywhere you look, shapes and lines lock together into a composition.
