Sliced Orange


It's snowing on the daffodils today, and I'm back to painting a winter orange. This is the last one left in the kitchen, and soon will make way for plums, strawberries and peaches.

Sunday Morning


This room revolves around two rocking chairs. James found the wicker one on a curbside near Dupont Circle and it has followed him on many moves since then, finally ending up home in a farmhouse kitchen.

Memory: Plowed Fields, Iowa


I went out to Iowa after graduate school with the vague reasons one has for moving when twenty four but ended up with a sense of purpose there, studying printmaking at the university, painting still life in my decrepit farmhouse studio, and venturing out to paint the gentle, functional landscape that I learned to love.
