Memory: Provence

The warming weather here has me looking forward to painting outside again, like on this June morning when my subject (my dear friend Elizabeth) sat with her pad and brush soaking up the sun and the view in the beautiful hill town Gordes.

Artists need museums like teenage boys need refrigerators: to sustain energy and as a relief from plain old everyday boredom, we need to regularly poke our heads into those sacrosanct interiors, and pull something that satisfies our appetites (inspiring images, cold pizza) out.
